Brushes:
For oils and acrylics you will need a few different
size filberts: one each #10, # 8, #4 and a small
rigger brush for details. A palette knife is useful
for removing paint.
For watercolors a large pointed round brush,
med., and small rigger brush for details, and an
11/2”-2” flat synthetic brush for covering
background areas. Sable brushes are expensive, there
are sable/synthetic blends and synthetics will work
just fine.
Everyone will need:
Sketchbook, Drawing Pencils, Eraser, White Artist
Tape, Personal Photographs, Paper Towels (Viva is
very absorbent), Palette (Wood or Plastic)
Painting Surfaces:
Oil
and Acrylic painters will need either stretched
canvas, canvas boards, or alternative surface
several sizes anywhere from 9”x12”, 11”x14”,
16”x20”.
Watercolor painters will need 140lb artist grade
watercolor paper, cold press is a good all- purpose
paper, either sheets or blocks.
Paint Thinner, Water, Turpentine
Oil
painters will need Gamsol odorless mineral
spirits only! Oil painters also need a jar
for washing brushes in. Acrylic and
watercolor painters will need a plastic container
for water. Oil painters will need a can of retouch
varnish spray.
